$1MMonthly Millionaire

All 3Stackable
All three apply to the same account. Order matters — see below.
Why Order Matters
Wealthsimple's promotions are independent of each other, but the sequence in which you sign up, deposit, and enroll determines whether you qualify for all three or only one. The biggest mistake people make is initiating a large transfer before enrolling in the 1% Match or entering a referral code. Once money moves, you can't retroactively apply promotions to that transfer.
The Correct Order
1
Sign up using referral code UHGWMQGo to wealthsimple.com/invite/UHGWMQ. This locks in your $25 referral bonus before anything else. Do this first — before any deposit or transfer.
2
Open a Wealthsimple chequing accountRequired for the $25 to be paid. Free, no minimum balance, takes about two minutes in the app. Both you and the referrer need one.
3
Enroll in the 1% Match and Monthly MillionaireIn the Wealthsimple app, go to Rewards Centre and register for both promotions before initiating any transfer. You must be enrolled before the transfer — not after.
4
Initiate your $25,000+ transfer from an external institutionThis qualifies for the 1% Match and earns Monthly Millionaire entries. The transfer must come from outside Wealthsimple — a bank, brokerage, RRSP, TFSA, etc.
5
Make a separate $100 deposit from your external bank (if needed)If your main transfer hasn't settled yet and you want to trigger the $25 referral bonus sooner, a separate $100 bank transfer counts toward the referral minimum independently.

What Not To Do
Don't transfer $25,000+ before enrolling in the 1% Match — it won't apply retroactively
Don't use an internal Wealthsimple transfer for the $100 referral deposit — it must come from an external bank
Don't skip opening a chequing account — the $25 referral bonus cannot be paid without it
Don't wait more than 7 days after your first deposit to enter a referral code — the retroactive window closes
UHGWMQ
Enter this first — before any deposit or transfer
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stack the referral bonus with the 1% Match?
Yes. They are separate promotions. Sign up with UHGWMQ first for the $25 referral bonus, then enroll in the 1% Match before initiating your transfer. Both apply to the same account independently.
Does the $100 referral deposit count toward the $25,000 minimum for the 1% Match?
No. These are separate thresholds. The 1% Match requires a transfer of $25,000 or more from another financial institution. A $100 bank deposit for the referral bonus is counted separately and does not contribute to the $25,000 minimum.
What if I already made my big transfer — can I still use the referral code?
Yes, as long as your first deposit was within the last 7 days and you haven't previously funded a Wealthsimple account. Enter UHGWMQ via the gift icon → Invite Friends → Enter referral code. If your deposit was more than 7 days ago, the referral code window has closed.
Is there a maximum to the 1% Match bonus?
The 1% Match applies to transfers up to $2,000,000. For most clients, that's a maximum bonus of $20,000. Active Traders (50+ trades per month) qualify for a 3% match instead, up to $60,000. The bonus is paid over 24 months, not as a lump sum.
